| Message from the President | Hi, fellow AUBERites! Happy spring!
We had a very successful Spring conference in the DC area, held in cooperation with the National Association for Business Economics’ spring policy conference. Over two dozen AUBER members attended. Especially noteworthy were the AUBER sessions organized by VP Sean Snaith (U Central Florida) on the housing situation, and by Bruce Kellison (BOD, UT-Austin) on immigration issues. Thanks for your hard work, guys! The famed AUBER hospitality suite was in session at the conference and gave us a chance to connect with our NABE colleagues. We had some interesting conversations there! If you’ve never come to the spring meeting, you may want to check it out next year. It’s a great chance to meet our corporate brethren (and sistren?) as well as key government officials who make policy. We’d like to sponsor two or three sessions at next year’s NABE meetings. | Fall Conference 2008 |
The 62nd annual AUBER conference will be at the Semiahmoo Resort, just north of Bellingham, WA. Keynote speakers include David Wyss from Standard & Poor’s and Irving Mintzer, a special advisor to the Dept. of Energy. In addition, Janet Yellen, president of the San Francisco Federal Reserve, is trying to adjust her schedule to join us. | 2008 GIC Trips |
GIC Abroad is particularly tailored to promote face-to-face dialogue with leaders in monetary, political, and social policy, throughout the globe. Many sessions are private and closed to the press so that GIC delegates may engage in open conversation with officials and among themselves. Nearly all trips have a public conference component.
